St.George Personal Credit Protect offers cover for you if something unexpected happens, meaning your loan repayments can still be taken care of

  • Personal loan protection helps you meet your personal loan repayment obligations if you unexpectedly lose your job, become sick, have an accident, or if you pass away
  • Personal loan protection is easy to apply for when applying for your St.George personal loan at any of our branches or over the telephone
  • Premium for the protection is included in the total amount you borrow
  • In the event of a claim, benefits are paid directly to your personal loan
  • The balance of your personal loan is paid out (up to a maximum of $50,000) if you pass away.
Personal loan protection
  • Personal loan protection reduces the chance of you defaulting on your personal loan repayments should something unexpected happen to you
  • Any benefits from another source, such as workers compensation, sick leave or Centrelink, will not be impacted if you make a claim
Sickness or Accident
  • Helps meet your personal loan repayments if you are injured or sick and unable to work
Involuntary Unemployment
  • Helps you meet your personal loan repayments if you lose your job unexpectedly (Involuntary Unemployment)
Life
  • If you pass away, this protection will pay out your outstanding personal loan balance (up to a maximum of $50,000)
Joint borrowers
  • If you and another person are joint borrowers on your personal loan, either or both of you may apply for this protection. Discounts apply for a second borrower.
Easy to apply
  • Easy application process with minimal paperwork when you apply for a new St.George personal loan or refinance your existing loan at any one of our branches or over the telephone
One-off premium
  • Premium is charged once only and added to the loan amount you borrow

St.George Personal Credit Protect cover includes:

  • Sickness or accident - if you’re unable to work due to sickness or accident, we’ll cover your regular loan repayments until you return to work 
  • Job loss (Involuntary Unemployment) - covers your regular loan repayments for up to 3 months or $1500 should you lose your job unexpectedly while you seek new employment.
  • Life - helping ensure your family is not burdened with meeting loan repayments if you were to pass away. St.George Personal Credit Protect covers your outstanding loan balance (up to a maximum of $50,000).

  • No medical examination required when applying

How personal loan protection could benefit you

St.George Personal Credit Protect means you have less to worry about in being able to meet your personal loan repayments. You and your family can focus on recovering should the unexpected happen, knowing we’re there to support you.

Personal Credit Protect is easy to put in place when you apply for your new personal loan or refinance your existing personal loan, at one of our branches or over the telephone, and the one-off premium is simply added to your loan amount. Once you have set it up, there is no more for you to do and you can relax knowing you’re covered.

In the event of a claim, any amounts are paid directly to your loan. Here’s an example of how this could work for you.

Insured event Example
Life We will pay the outstanding balance of your personal loan owing at the date you pass away
Sickness and accident We will pay the monthly loan repayment until you return to work
Job loss (Involuntary Unemployment) We will pay the monthly loan repayment for up to 3 months or $1,500, whichever occurs first

How to claim

Call Swann Insurance as soon as possible on 1300 657 382 if you believe you have reason to make a claim.

They will provide you with a claim form for you to complete and return with 14 days, including the information outlined below and any other details they need. If your claim relates to a period exceeding one month, you may need to complete further claim forms and provide further information.

What happens when you claim

Swann Insurance will get back to you within 10 days to either:

  • Confirm whether your claim has been successful and provide payment details, or
  • Request additional information to help us reach a decision on your claim.
